ON THE ROAD: The Hold Steady

The Hold Steady has always been one of my favorite bands. The band's sound, usually described as that of a grungy Bruce Springsteen revival band, is defined by lead singer Craig Finn's rugged voice and his anecdotal lyrics. The cover for their new album, Heaven is Whenever, was just released (featured above). The band is also currently touring the US and Europe in support of the album, due to drop on May 4th. Below is a link to "You Can Make Him Like You", a track off Boys and Girls in America (a phrase coined by beatnik Jack Kerouac if I'm not mistaken). I've always thought this song included an element of Hip Hop. Perhaps, its the back and forth chorus that was a staple of early hip hop songs.
